Section 75 claim letter template UK
Quick answer
Use this Section 75 claim letter when a retailer refuses to refund a parcel dispute and you paid by credit card for an order between £100 and £30,000. Send to your card issuer's disputes team.
When to use this template
Use this template only after the retailer has refused or ignored a written refund request. Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 makes your card issuer jointly liable with the retailer for credit-card purchases between £100 and £30,000.
If you paid by debit card or the order was under £100, use the chargeback letter template instead.

Frequently asked questions
Does Section 75 work for purchases under £100?
No. Section 75 only applies to single transactions between £100 and £30,000 paid by credit card. For under £100, use chargeback.
What if my bank initially refuses the claim?
You can escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service for free. The FOS often sides with consumers when the bank applied the Section 75 test wrong.
Can I file Section 75 alongside chargeback?
You can try both. Banks usually run chargeback first because it's faster; Section 75 is a legal right that applies regardless of card-scheme rules.
